Next Up the Kiev Class Aviation Cruiser
Now the Wasp is done, I am going to work on something a little smaller. This time I am going to build a 1/700 Kiev.
This will be a combination of the 1/700 Aoshima and the Trumpeter kits. The Aoshima kit is pretty old, while the Trumpeter kit has been out for a years. The two have their plus and minuses. The Aoshima kit's details are soft, while the Trumpeter kit has some issues with things being over scaled or not as detailed as well as they should be given the era it was made.
So, this will be a kit-bash in the truest sense.
Here's the plan:
Hull and flight deck--Aoshima because it has the ability to show the elevators at different levels
Island--Trumpeter
Weapons--A combination of the Trumpeter parts and Pitroad's Russian accessories set
Markings--Trumpeter for the deck and Aoshima for the pennants and numbers
Aircraft--Aoshima for the Yaks and a combination of Trumpeter and Aoshima for the helicopters
Miscellaneous fittings--Trumpeter and Pitroad
In addition, I purchased GMM's Soviet aircraft carrier set for the radars, railings and other decals. I think this will really look when it's done.
Now to get started...
