Review of Goffy 1/350 Scale Figures

If you really want to get a perspective of the size of many naval vessels, just have a person stand near one.   They are larger and complex machines that are home to hundreds or in some cases thousands of people.  The same principle applies to model ships.  If you want to get that perspective with you model ships, you need people.

That is why I ordered two sets of 1/350 scale model figures from Goffy---one of their new aircraft carrier figures and one of their universal naval figures.  These are not the normal 2-D figures you will find in photo etch.  Each one is modeled in resin and is 3-D.   They are about as big as a grain of rice (before you cook it that is) and come in various poses.

At first glance, my thoughts were, "Wow. They are small." But the detail is very good. Each one is attached to a resin block by their feet.  This should make removing them from the sprue very easy.   However, a couple of the figures on each set were missing their heads.  Luckily there are others to take their place.  I consider this a minor annoyance rather than a real negative.

The poses are good and show people in motion.  The real question to ask is, "is it the right motion?"  Again this in minor.  Not every figure on a ship or the flight deck is standing perfectly still.  Again not a deal breaker.

The aircraft carrier figures come pre-colored for the various positions found on an aircraft carrier.  This really didn't bother me since I will have to paint them any way.

Highly recommended.  You can also see a review of the Goffy figures on Hyperscale.
