Fitting the Sponsons to the Hull. Lots of Gaps

I then attached the sponsons to the hull and found that there were some serious gaps.  All of these will need to be filled and sanded down.  The photos below show the size of the gaps.  I am not sure what I could have done differently---it just appears to be a fit problem.
